Wayne Stahnke's Live Performance software collection was created by a
unique process of scanning master piano rolls. By using a CCD scanner
it produces a computerized "picture" of each entire master roll. The
next step involves a complex program which analyzes the timing on the
roll, and reproduces the exact timing grid that was used to make the
original master roll. The result is a file that exactly copies the
original master roll, and eliminates the errors caused by roll
duplication. From there, a series of steps converts the information to
a Disklavier file.
